Beauty industry strategist working across consumer behavior, product performance, and hands-on practice
Founder of Kulima Product Development Partners and Textūra Curl Studio
Beauty has been the throughline of my career. People have always been the point.
I’m Elise Burnett Boyd, a beauty industry strategist, practitioner, educator, and entrepreneur working across consumer behavior, product performance, and business strategy.
I’ve spent more than 15 years learning how beauty decisions are made.
I began behind a department store makeup counter, where I saw how trust, confidence, and expectations influence a purchase. I later managed cosmetics stores, became a licensed cosmetologist, opened a salon, and began working with brands on product direction and performance.
Along the way, I studied psychology and sociology to understand how people make decisions and earned my MBA in marketing to connect those decisions to business strategy. The settings have changed. The question has stayed with me: what makes someone choose a product, use it successfully, and come back to it?
Where my work lives
Kulima Product Development Partners
Kulima is a practitioner-led, consumer behavior-informed product development partner for haircare brands. The work brings real-world product use into the decisions that shape what gets developed, how it performs, and how people experience it.
Textura Curl Studio
Textura is where more than a decade of hands-on practice continues. The studio specializes in curly and tightly textured hair, with an emphasis on technique, product understanding, and giving clients the knowledge to care for their hair beyond the appointment.
Writing and Speaking
I write and speak about beauty products, consumer behavior, practitioner expertise, entrepreneurship, and the decisions that shape what people ultimately experience.
